Our apartment is almost completely packed up. Our kayaking gear is almost completely packed up. We are almost completely ready to go.

Today is our last sunday at Missio Dei. Our pastor is back from Ethiopia with his 2 new kids he adopted there. Today is their first sunday. I like that. Im so glad that we get to meet them before we leave. The facebook photos of them are crushingly adorable. God Bless them and their new family of… 8!

Ive been SUPER emotional these past few days. I know that I am getting very very overwhelmed. Theres so much to this. First and foremost of course is the anxiety of the trip, of which i am almost completely exhausted of laboring about that i wont do it here. Other than that, we are moving, becoming “homeless again” and most challenging of all… leaving friends. I just need to get going with this thing and stop thinking about it. I really had a hard time here in Maine but I will miss it. It’s a weird thing.

Hope you are all doing well and good. I will leave you with this video I took in the Old North Church in Boston a few weeks ago. It’s music, a choir singing, and its beautiful. Close your eyes and listen… perhaps even worship the Lord who created this world filed with more beauty than you can possibly enjoy in one lifetime.

sunday afternoon

I love Sunday afternoons. I look forward to them all week. They are FAR superior to saturdays. Saturday is too carefree. Sunday, especially in the afternoon, I realize that the weekend is closing in on us and there is precious little time left before the week full of work begins. The hours become almost more valuable. On this particular sunday afternoon, we decided not to go to the monthly “Soup Day” that our new church has as a time for fellowship. The call of lazy sunday sun coming thorugh the curtains, and the glow of our early decorated christmas tree, was much to apealing.

Dan is sleeping. I went in our room and saw him asleep, (almost instantly after he left the living room where we were watching “The Other Boylen Girl”), and I was overcome with how much i love him. We waited for what seemed like ages, to be able to be married. To have a home together. To be able to sleep in eachothers arms. I realized that I had waited for so long just to be able to see him sleeping, in the lazy sunday sun coming though the curtains, just as much as anthing else. He is wonderful.

enough about that. right?

I find it hard to find the perfect moment to write here. I always have a hang-up about it. I want to be able to give it an open-ended amount of time, so that I can really say all that I want to say in as many words as i want to say it in. That’s another thing sundays are good for. I guess that the Lord wants us to be able to have these moments. Moments where you feel truly comfortable and completely free to simply be. Thats a good sunday. It’s not THE LORDS DAY to me. That seems almost silly to me because honestly, shouldn’t that be everyday? Right now, at this moment, I think Sunday was God’s gift to us, not the other way around. That opnion may change, as all opinions tend to do slightly, but for this moment, it works.

We decorated our Christmas tree the other night. Early yes. whatever man. I adore Christmas and I wanted it to be in my living room. We have been listening to Christmas music too. Its fantastic. We got our plain glass round ornaments at the local Goodwill, and wrote the name of one state along the east coast on each of them. Then we wrote “Our first Christmas 2008″ on the last one. The tree topper is a star ornament that we bought. The tree is small enough that the topper/star ornament is the perfect size. I love our $20 worth of christmas decorating. Its perfect.

so… on to other Sunday afternoon tasks, like doing nothing and REALLY enjoying every moment of it.
